Bloomfield Talks

In April 2008 Steve and I were invited to be volunteers in a new year- long project to help produce a new history book of one of Blackpool's most famous districts.
Nine volunteers aged from late teens to late seventies from all walks of life were brought together by Simon Grennan an International Artist and Vik an English Artist.
Our brief was to document our conversations and activities by taking photos, recording conversations and by taking notes. We encouraged our family, neighbours, friends and our guests to participate. We drew maps on the areas which were important to us.We had great fun looking through old family photo albums. We found Steve's dad's small album with his family photo's which he carried with him through the war. Many of these photo's are used in the book.
We had regular get togethers with Simon, Vik and the other volunteers.
In February 2009 we edited all our material and it was sent away to be published. We all got together and enjoyed a meal at a local restaurant.
The book is called Bloomfield Talks, and it was given away free to over 5,000 households in the Bloomfield Ward.
A few of us were interviewed by Radio Lancashire who helped to promote promote our book. Simon Steve Vik and I had our interview in the dining room at Camelot House.
On May 9th 2009 the book was launched at St Peters Church Hall on Lytham Rd.There was refreshments and entertainment for all the family and plenty more books to give away.
